How Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology Works
Step 1.

It all starts with a personalized, pre-operative plan. Before surgery, a CT scan is taken of your affected joint. From this scan, a virtual 3D model of your hip/knee is created. The 3D model then allows the surgeon to develop a personalized, pre-operative plan based on your specific anatomy. The plan - a map of sorts - helps ensure the precise positioning of your new joint implant. The surgical team will then test the positioning and fine tune your personal plan prior to your surgery.

Step 2.

On the day of surgery, the surgeon performs the joint replacement procedure based on your programmed plan using the Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System. While the robotic technology helps guide the surgeon to stay within the predetermined diseased area, the surgeon is in control of the technology at all times. The Robotic-Arm System does not perform surgery, make decisions on its own, or move in any way without the surgeon.

Step 3.

The recovery process varies for each patient, and will be developed through close monitoring by your surgical team. Your post-op plan may include pain medication, the use of a continuous passive motion (CPM) machine to assist with bending and straightening the knee, and an evaluation with a physical therapist.
